Faxing your Resume
Some job postings only provide a fax number as a means of submitting your resume. If you don’t have a fax machine, don’t panic, your local copy shop will usually have a fax service and will be happy to send your resume. When faxing your resume there are a few important factors to consider.

  • Make sure that you are using a good font. Some fax machines will smudge ink and make it harder to read.

  • Be careful when using any color. Fax machines will turn everything to black and white.

  • Consider your margins. Some fax machines have big margins and your resume might be clipped or shrunk down to fit.

  • Request a confirmation. Often you can set your fax machine to receive a confirmation message if your fax was successful. Make sure your resume got there.

  • Ensure all of your contact information is present. Phone, Fax, Email. The more you have the easier it is to contact you.

  • Finally we recommend that you send some test faxes. See for yourself how it will look and make any modifications that are needed to improve the resumes clarity.

Happy faxing.
