Interview Questions
The questions below are frequently asked in the interview process. Some of them are fairly straight forward but many interview questions can cause you to pause and think and can even cause you to get flustered. By preparing for these questions in advance you can present yourself in the best light during your interview.
  1. What are your greatest strengths?
    • Be careful not to brag.
    • Present a strength that would be complimentary to the position for which you are interviewing.
    • Your strengths should also be highlighted in your resume.

  2. What are your greatest weaknesses?
    • Acknowledge that you have a weakness, mention that you are working on improving yourself. For example if you have poor typing skills you could enroll in a typing class or purchase software that would help you. Mention this to your interviewer, it shown initiative and a willingness to learn.
    • Mention a weakness that would not affect your major duties in your potential job.

  3. Why do you want to work here?
    • This is a good opportunity to show that you have researched the company, mention specifics if possible.

  4. What are characteristics you possess that make you a strong candidate?
    • Mention specific things that would help you be a strong fit for the company, relate them back to your strengths.
    • Provide examples of how you have been able to utilize your skills in your current job.

  5. What are some things you feel have been your greatest accomplishments?
    • This can be dificult to answer for people early in their careers so you may have to think outside the box.
    • Apply details from your personal life if needed. For example if you built your own home or ran a marathon, those are things to be proud of and can show strong qualities to your potential employer.

  6. What was produced as a result of your greatest accomplishments?
    • Again, specific examples make a great impression, you can say you learned a new skill or raised money for charity etc.

  7. Why are you leaving your old job?
    • Don't talk down about your current employer, this makes you look petty. Some good answers might be that you have outgrown the company, downsizing, no room for advancement etc.

  8. What kind of salary are you looking for?
    • You should have a figure in mind, ask people in similar industries to get a good idea of what a competitive wage would be.
    • Do some online research to find out the industry average.

  9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
    • A five and ten year plan can show that you plan for the future.
    • Don't get hung up on the details, a general overview is all you need.
